DLT Q&A

The questions we are actually asked — answered without the sales gloss.

The basics

DLT (Distributed Ledger Technology) is the registration layer the Indian telecom operators run under TRAI's TCCCPR regulations. Before you can send commercial SMS in India, your business must be registered as an entity, your sender ID (header) must be registered, and the exact text of your messages must be registered as content templates. Messages that do not match a registered header and template are blocked by the operator before they reach a handset.
No — and it matters that we say so plainly. The DLT platforms are owned and operated by the telecom operators themselves. No third party can issue an Entity ID or approve a header. AVANCEZONE TECHNOLOGIES PRIVATE LIMITED is a registered telemarketer (registration 1702157968984785215). What we provide is assistance: we prepare your paperwork, submit your applications, chase approvals and link your entity to our telemarketer account so your traffic can be delivered.
If you send commercial SMS to Indian numbers — OTPs, order updates, alerts, reminders or marketing — then yes. This includes transactional and service messages, not just marketing. Person-to-person messages from an ordinary mobile number are outside the scope.
The Entity ID identifies your business on the DLT platform. The header (Sender ID) is the 6-character alphabetic name recipients see as the sender, for example an abbreviation of your brand. The template is the exact message text, with variable fields marked, that each outgoing message is compared against. You need all three before a message is delivered.

Registration, documents and fees

An authorisation agreement on your letterhead, an authority letter, identity proof, address proof no older than 2 months, a PAN copy, and your GST certificate if you are GST registered. You also nominate the email address and mobile number to be registered against the entity. The full checklist, with format rules, is on our documents page.
PDF, JPEG, PNG, each file under 100 KB. The portals reject anything larger or in another format, so compress scans before sending them.
₹5,000 plus 18% GST — ₹5,900 in total for a new registration, valid for 2 years. SMS credits are billed separately.
The timeline is set by the operators, not by us, and it varies with how busy the portal is and whether your documents pass first-time verification. We will tell you what we are currently seeing rather than promise a date we do not control — and the single biggest factor in your favour is a clean document pack.
Yes. Your entity registration belongs to your business, not to a telemarketer. If you already hold an Entity ID, you generally do not need to register again — we link your existing entity to our telemarketer registration and take over header and template work from there. Tell us your Entity ID when you apply.
Registration is valid for 2 years. We track the expiry against your account and contact you before it lapses, because letting it expire interrupts delivery rather than simply generating a reminder.

Headers and templates

A header is 6 alphabetic characters and should be a recognisable abbreviation of your registered business or brand name — operators reject headers with no evident link to the entity. You also choose a category: transactional (banking OTP and similar), service-implicit, service-explicit, or promotional. The category determines which messages the header may legally carry.
The most common reasons are: message content that does not match the declared category; variable fields used to smuggle in whole sentences or URLs rather than values; unregistered links, shortener domains or call-back numbers in the body; and promotional wording submitted on a transactional header. We review your drafts before submission so these are caught early.
Approval is not delivery. Every message is compared against the approved template at send time, and the comparison is strict — a double space, a changed dash or a full stop that is not in the approved text can cause a mismatch. Generate messages from the approved template text rather than retyping them. Send us the exact failing message and the header, and we will compare it against what is registered.
Yes, and most customers do continually. New templates, wording amendments and additional headers are ongoing work we handle as part of supporting your account.
For message categories that require explicit consent, the DLT framework expects the wording by which you obtained that consent to be registered too. Where your use case needs it, we register the consent template alongside your content templates.

Working with us

You authorise AVANCEZONE TECHNOLOGIES PRIVATE LIMITED to register your organisation as a DLT entity where applicable; to create, manage and update headers; to register, submit, modify and manage content and consent templates; to complete the documentation required by operators, DLT portals, telemarketers and regulatory authorities; and to link your entity to our telemarketer account. The authorisation stays in force until you revoke it in writing.
DLT registration assistance and SMS delivery are separate. Most customers do both with us because it removes the hand-offs when something needs fixing, but the authorisation you sign is about DLT registration work.
Yes. The authority letter is valid until revoked by you in writing. Your Entity ID, headers and templates remain yours.
Email sales@securesmsc.com or start an application and describe the issue in the notes field. If you are already a customer, raise it from your account and it lands in the same queue.
